AR Rahman says he once turned down an invitation to meet the late singer Michael Jackson

AR Rahman never ceases to amaze audiences with his music and is a well-known name in the industry. However, in a recent interview, the legendary singer revealed that he had declined an invitation to meet the late singer and sensation Michael Jackson years ago.

He said they had planned to work together at the time, but later it didn’t work out. “In early 2009, I was in LA with my agent. He introduced me to another person, his friend who managed Michael Jackson. I was testing the waters. I asked, ‘Can I meet Michael Jackson?’ And he said, ‘Sure, I’ll send an email.’ There was no response for the first week. It was just quiet, and I said, ‘It’s OK.'”

He added: “And then the
There were nominations and I was nominated for the Oscars. Then the email came saying, ‘Michael wants to meet you.’ But I said I don’t want to meet him right now.”

“I said, ‘I don’t want to meet him. If I win an Oscar, I’ll meet him, otherwise not.’ I was sure I would win. I won and the next day I went to meet him. It was almost 6:30 p.m. and the sun was just setting. And then someone with gloves on opened the door. At his meeting, Rahman also recalled Michael praising his music in the film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. He said, “He introduced me to his children, but I was jet-lagged because I had been working day and night. I was waiting to go back to India… It was unforgettable.”

Michael passed away in 2009 due to health complications, but is still remembered by many as a legendary figure in the music industry.
