There’s gaming merch and then there’s this Elden Ring book that costs over 00

Gaming merch is big business. From knick-knacks like keychains to desk accessories like Funko Pops of Mortal Kombat figures, you can basically express your love for your favorite gaming characters and universes by adding some real-world objects to your life.

Sometimes certain pieces of merchandise stand out not only because they’re cool, but because they cost more than some wallets can handle. Last month we had things like the official Fallout backpack alongside Fallout blue light glasses – it seems like no sector is immune to having a gaming franchise thrown at them.

More traditional are books. Books about games and books celebrating games are nothing new. However, books that cost over $1,000 are something new for us.

Honestly, it looks fantastic – and it’s also the most expensive of the editions, more on that in a moment.

The book in question is titled Grace Given: The Mythology of Elden Ring, was written by Elden Ring lore expert Geough “SmoughTown” Truscott, and is more of a collectible work of art than a 50 Shades of Grey-style paperback.

“Prepare yourself for a comprehensive and deep immersion into the mythology underlying Miyazaki’s latest masterpiece.

The design of Grace Given draws inspiration from the most precious sacred books of antiquity. The result is a product that is both a work of scholarship and an unparalleled collector’s piece.”

That’s what the blurb on the pre-order page says. For your £860, $1000, you’ll receive a version of the audiobook and e-book with free postage (ahem, thanks) and a collector’s art print of “Grace of Gold,” hand-signed and numbered by the artist Shimhaq, packaged in a special foil-coated envelope, as well as your name as a benefactor attribution on the back of Grace Given, including all future editions.

The Benefactor edition is only available until August 10th, but if you miss it or can’t afford it, there is a Collector’s Edition for £215 or a nicer leather-bound Limited Edition, although that will cost you around £602.
