Jon Bon Jovi releases loving tribute to his late mother Carol

Jon Bon Jovi mourns the loss of his late mother Carol Bongiovi.

On Wednesday, July 10, the 62-year-old Bon Jovi frontman shared a clip from the band’s “Story of Love” music video, which features some of his intimate home videos.

“Mom, we always carry you with us ❤️❤️,” the musician wrote next to the touching Instagram clip. In it, Bon Jovi can be seen singing and playing guitar in front of a wall full of family photos.

The track from the band 2020 The album features moving lyrics, with Bon Jovi singing in the chorus: “Fathers love daughters like mothers love sons / They wrote our history before there was one / From the day you arrive until you leave until you run / There’s nothing but pride, there’s nothing but love.”

The rock icon’s social media tribute came one day after his mother died on Tuesday, July 9 – three days before her 84th birthday at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ

“Our mother was a force to be reckoned with. Her spirit and attitude shaped this family. We will miss her greatly,” he told PEOPLE in a statement on behalf of the family.

Carol was the founder of the fan club of his eponymous band. She was also a former playboy Bunny and entrepreneur who ran several businesses.

She met her future husband, John Bongiovi Sr., Bon Jovi’s father, after she was drafted into the US Marine Corps in 1959. The family grew up in Sayreville, New Jersey, and later settled in Holmdel, New Jersey, where she lived until her death.
