Book it for the Abilene Public Library’s annual book flea market

Remember to bring a reusable bag or box to take your books home.

The Friends of the Abilene Public Library invite the public to participate in their annual book sale Thursday through Sunday.

The book sale at the Abilene Convention Center (1100 North 6th Street) supports public libraries by providing financial support for materials, equipment, programs and training opportunities for staff throughout the year.

Doors open Thursday from 5-8 p.m. to current Friends of the Library members. Those who want to shop early can purchase a membership at the door.

The book sale is open to the public free of charge on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

On Sunday, shoppers can take part in the final Bag-O-Books sale. With the purchase of a $6 bag, readers can take as many books as they can fit inside.

From Thursday to Saturday, guests are asked to bring their own bags, carts and boxes to reduce plastic consumption. Recyclable carrier bags can be purchased at the sale.

Prices at the annual sale are low and offer a chance to stock up on old books and new releases. Children’s books start at $2. Regular hardback and paperback books are $2. Paperbacks are $1 each.

All sales are final and no refunds will be given.

The sale will not only feature books, but buyers can browse and purchase a collection of CDs, DVDs, audio books, computer software, records, cassette tapes and collectible antiques.

Cash, checks, credit and debit cards are accepted as forms of payment. Mastercard, Visa, Discover and Diners Club are accepted. American Express is not accepted as a form of payment.
