Romy Mars is now a pop singer

Just a few days after walking the red carpet in Cannes with her grandfather Francis Ford Coppola, Romy Mars starts her career as a pop singer.

Romy, the daughter of filmmaker Sofia Coppola and musician Thomas Mars (born Thomas Croquet), released two singles: “Stuck Up” and “From a Distance”. The EP, also titled Snootywas produced by Claud and the cover shows Romy wearing a snorkel mask. The songs are available on all major music streaming platforms, including Spotify:

Coppola promoted the music on her Instagram account, writing, “So proud of Romy’s first two songs out today! Thanks to Claud for producing @claud.mp3,” along with a photo of her daughter on an orange moped:

Claud Coppola then shared his post to his story and added a celebration emoji.

The news has already spread like wildfire online, with some taking to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Romy’s nepotism baby ambitions. “I support nepotism when it comes to Romy Mars,” wrote one person. Another added, “It’s Romy Mars’ world and we’re just living in it.”

Author Emma de Matteo posted, “I texted everyone I know that Romy Mars released an EP,” and Alyssa Vingan jokingly wrote that she’s “starring Romy Mars, Gracie Abrams, and Willow Smith in my personal Nepochella.”

After Romy’s TikTok went viral last year with a video of her being grounded for trying to charter a helicopter to visit her friend from camp, she has been absent from social media. Her mother Sofia commented: “We were raised to be so private and social media is the exact opposite of how I grew up. So it was the best way for her to be rebellious.” She added: “I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on her films. And her comedy. She’s funny. But for people to talk publicly about my upbringing is not what I would have hoped for.”

At the time of writing this article, Romy is not (yet) back on TikTok to promote her new music.
