Singer Steve Yoo, who was heavily criticized for a comment disparaging delivery drivers, said on Wednesday that he did not write the comment, adding that he would take legal action against the imposter who left the comment under the account name Yoo Seung Jun Official.

“That’s not me,” Yoo wrote on Instagram, attaching a screenshot of a news article reporting on the matter. Yoo said it looked like someone intentionally used the nickname to write the “weird” comment.

The controversial comment was posted in 2022 in a live chatroom on YouTube that was streaming news about a delivery driver strike ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. A screenshot of the comment was recently posted on an online community page and drew heavy criticism.

The comment reads: “If you were not good at school and have nothing, you have no choice but Subscribe to (a derogatory Korean term for delivery drivers).” The comment came from a YouTube account called Yoo Seung Jun Official, which hasn’t posted any videos in the past three years.

Yoo said he would take legal action against those who reported the “false news without verifying the facts, as well as the scammer who left the comment.” He added that he did not understand why he had to respond to this “absurd situation” and why he had to go through all this.
