John Taylor – Dominion Post

John Taylor – Dominion Post

John Dent Taylor, 80, of Herring, W.Va., went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood.

He was born on December 23, 1943 in Masontown, West Virginia, to the late Emily Demoin and Vivian Agnes Taylor.

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. On January 26, 1964, he married the love of his life, Carolyn. John’s professional career began in 1964 at Chem Metals, Inc. on Rowlesburg Road, where he started as a laborer and worked his way up to plant manager. He worked in that position for several years until the plant closed after the flood of 1985. After that, John worked as an independent contractor, building and renovating homes. John loved his wife, children and grandchildren – they were the sunshine of his life. He also loved the hard work on his 30-acre farm where he lived for 59 years.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carolyn (Cummings) Taylor; three children, Angie Taylor of Arthurdale, John Taylor and his wife Vicky of Morgantown, and Randy Taylor of Springfield, West Virginia; four grandchildren, John “JD” Taylor III and his partner, Tonya Sypolt of Masontown, Christopher R. Taylor of Myock, Virginia, Emily Buvalla and his partner, Stone Sanders of Denver, and Kendal Taylor of Arthurdale; two great-grandchildren, Gabe and Evelyn Taylor of Myock, Virginia; two brothers, Curtis Taylor and his wife Carolyn and Albert Taylor and his wife Diane; three sisters, Dixie Radabaugh, Shirley Urso, and Ellen Michael; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his young son Gregory Scott Taylor, his four brothers Vance “Pete” Taylor, Dennis Taylor, Joseph Taylor and Sunday Taylor Sr., and two sisters Wilma Gamble and Velma “Sissy” Taylor.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, West Virginia on Saturday, July 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 14th from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Mike Harriman officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
