World War II history comes to life this weekend in Chesterfield Township.

A reenactment will be held at the Chesterfield Township Historical Village from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The theme this year is Operation Cobra, which took place July 25-31, 1944, the breakout from Normandy during World War II. Cobra, a smaller part of Operation Overload, took place seven weeks after D-Day.

The event will feature both an Allied and Axis camp open to the public, with demonstrations of authentic combat and camp life. Battles are scheduled for 11am and 2pm on both days. The military service on Sunday is scheduled for 10am.

In addition, military vehicles will be on display and dealers will be on site.

The event is co-hosted by the Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society and the Chesterfield Township Historical Society. A donation of $1 per adult or $2 per family is suggested. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
