Michigan State’s Xavier Booker has been training with LeBron and Bronny James this offseason

Xavier Booker, center for the Michigan State men’s basketball team, is looking to make a big leap in his sophomore year.

The former five-star recruit showed glimpses of the potential fans expected from Booker’s career with the Green-Whites in his first season, but now it’s time to make that the norm.

Booker is taking the necessary steps to make that happen. The second-year center said he even worked out with NBA star LeBron James and his son – and new teammate – Bronny James during the offseason.

“I was actually in LA and trained with him (Bronny James),” Booker said Tuesday at the 2024 Moneyball Pro-Am. “I actually had the opportunity to train with LeBron as well.”

LeBron and Bronny were just two of many players the Spartans center was able to work with.

“It was awesome,” Booker said. “I mean, I got a chance to work out with — I mean, I saw so many guys out there — I got a chance to work out with Jaren Jackson out there. … I have a contract with Klutch Sports, so I was at practice with their pre-draft guys. So I did kind of a pre-draft workout with them, and LeBron just stepped in.”

“And Bronny was there. I think it was Rob Dillingham, Justin Edwards and Terrence Shannon. So we all trained together.”

Booker is a fan of LeBron, who is currently preparing to compete in his fourth Olympic Games for the U.S. team this summer. Booker is excited to see this elite U.S. team on the court this month.

“I’ve been watching their practice games and stuff,” he said. “… They’re NBA superstars, so I’m excited to see them all. I’m excited to see them all. My favorite player is LeBron, but I mean, I think I’m excited to see Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant.”

Spartan fans should be excited to see what Booker has to offer next season, and his workouts with some of the best at the next level should only help his game as he prepares for an increased workload in his second season with the program.
