The greatest voice actors in the cast of The Last Descendant

Nexon’s looter shooter The First Descendant doesn’t just try to have a satisfying gameplay loop. A lot of care and attention has been put into the story, with plenty of cutscenes and voice-acted interactions to bring everything to life.

Welcome to the endgame of The First Descendant, where you’ll initially enter hard mode and quickly need some upgrades.

Seasoned gamers will likely recognize some of the voices, especially those of the main cast. This is a game that demands your full attention while playing, so while you might be tempted to have a podcast playing in the background while farming in the game, these famous voice actors might just make you want to turn up the game’s volume.

9 The leader

Tracy Wiles

Leading you through the game is the Guide, a strange, ghostly figure who initially appears as a white silhouette. It was important that she had an impressive voice as there was nothing visual to latch onto and thankfully Tracy Wiles does a great job in the role.

Tracy has appeared in numerous television and gaming media, from an elevator voice in Good Omens to multiple voices in Diablo 4. However, her biggest gaming role was as Jaheira in Baldur’s Gate 3, a hugely popular character and potential adventure companion.

8th Hare

Rebecca LaChance

Bunny is your main companion (and fellow Descendant) during the starting missions of the campaign, bringing some much-needed levity to the serious tone set by the first Descendants. Bunny’s entire identity revolves around moving fast and asking questions later, something Rebecca LaChance was able to underscore with her portrayal.

Rebecca has provided voices for several games, although not many individual roles (notably Sena in Xenoblade Chronicles 3). Her voice can be heard on several characters in the games Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and Horizon: Forbidden West.

7 Viessa

Mary Louis

One of the first playable characters is Viessa, the ice figure who can freeze enemies in place to easily take them out. Her confidence is evident in the performance of Maria Louis, who shines in her first leading role in a video game.

However, this is not the first game she has worked on, as she has already appeared in various roles in this medium. Notably, she voiced characters in Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC Desa: The Memories Between and Babylon’s Fall.

6 Ajax

Doug Cockle

Of the first Descendants, Ajax is the only one who doesn’t show his face, but his voice is the most recognizable. This is because Doug Cockle is widely known as the voice of the legendary Geralt of Rivia, not only in the trilogy but also in the character’s cameo appearances in Monster Hunter and Soul Calibur 6.

Geralt is not his only known role, as he has also been active in more recent popular games. Doug has been busy in recent years, but his biggest roles are arguably Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Nightingale in Alan Wake 2.

5 Lepic

David Menkin

The final starting character is Lepic, and just like Viessa, he is very confident in his abilities, which is evident in the performance of David Menkin. He is no newbie to voicing characters in multiplayer games, as he is also known for his work in Valorant and Foam Stars.

He has also appeared in several popular games, including Alan Wake 2, Final Fantasy XVI, and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Outside of gaming, he also lent his voice to Rayman in the Netflix animated series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.

4 Jayber

Joshua Wichard

All looter shooters need a character who summons turrets, and Jayber is the one who fills that role here. As a playable character, he’s as involved in the story as anyone else, but his voice actor has so many roles that many players will instantly recognize him.

His biggest role is certainly the voice of the playable character in Baldur’s Gate 3, but he can also be heard in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Dragon Quest: Monsters, and Final Fantasy XVI. He is also credited as the voice of an orc in the Gollum video game, so he is more of an actor who relies on quantity over quality.

3 Split

Natalie Simpson

Sharen is the playable assassin of the roster. She can turn invisible to get close to her prey and deal massive damage, or simply disappear. Natalie Simpson brings the character to life brilliantly with plenty of cocky lines as she takes down enemies.

Natalie isn’t known for working much in the video game industry, at least not recently, but she did play Shakella in Horizon: Forbidden West. In addition, she has appeared in numerous TV shows and films, and even appeared on the Doctor Who radio/podcast show.

2 Gley

Laurence Bouvard

Don’t let her appearance fool you, because Gley isn’t a healer in The First Descendant, but a frenzied damage dealer. This duality is played by Laurence Bouvard, and while the difference between a normal and an angry Gley isn’t that great, Laurence still makes the subtle changes stand out.

With a new Perfect Dark game in the works, you should know that Laurence Bouvard voiced Joanna Dark in Perfect Dark Zero. Additionally, she has been seen in everything from RoboCop: Rogue City to Blasphemous 2.

1 Blair

Josh Cowdery

Featured on many of the game’s posters, Blair is the fire-like character from The First Descendant who sets his enemies on fire with his special abilities. A former chef, his lines are rather quirky, which Josh Cowdery plays effortlessly.

Josh has appeared in a number of films and series, including Fantastic Beasts and the Winx saga, but when it comes to video games, he has recently appeared in Terminator: Dark Fate, Killer Frequency and Dead Island 2, to name a few.
