Hilarious Overwatch 2 bug causes voiceline spam to reach new levels

A bug in Overwatch 2 has taken voice line spamming to a new level of harassment: players can blast the eardrums of anyone in the lobby, regardless of what team they’re on.

Overwatch 2 Season 11 is finally here and it’s bringing a ton of new content with it. From a new limited-time game mode to Push, which is getting some big updates with Runasapi and a newly revamped Colosseo, to the return of Pink Mercy, it’s a jam-packed season, even if not everything went to plan from the start.

With the new major update, a handful of bugs have slipped through the cracks, some worse than others. Players have already discovered a pretty funny bug in the new patch, because voiceline spamming can now be heard across the entire server and across team boundaries.

Discovered by Twitch streamer Phyerx, who found that the new Kiriko voice line – which can be obtained in the Season 11 Battle Pass – is “not good enough”, can be spammed, and can be heard by anyone on the server even when the spawn barriers aren’t down.

As it turns out, the problem isn’t unique to Kiriko. All new voice lines for all heroes in Season 11 are affected by the bug, meaning you can distract your opponents (and your teammates too) anytime, anywhere. As you can imagine, this has led to a rise in voice line spam.

In Phyerx’s clip, she showed her opponent’s perspective. We can see how he was so distracted by the mysterious voice line spam that he was afraid to leave his spawn.

If you have a player in your lobby who is exploiting this bug or generally spamming voicelines, you can mute all text and hero communication by going to the social channels, right-clicking on the player profile and selecting the option.

There’s no way to say exactly when a fix for this will be released, but at the time of writing, voice lines in the Battle Pass have been disabled as a temporary solution to prevent players from completely taking over the lobbies.
