The four-part HBO original series based on the sports documentary CHARLIE HUSTLE & THE MATTER OF PETE ROSE starts on July 24

Summary: In 1989, Major League Baseball (MLB) legend Pete Rose was banned from baseball for life after an MLB investigation found that he had bet on games during his tenure as manager of the Cincinnati Reds. CHARLIE HUSTLE & THE MATTER OF PETE ROSE undertakes a retrospective spanning more than 60 years to tell the story of baseball’s all-time batting leader, whose on-field exploits and off-field transgressions have made him one of the most polarizing figures in all of sports.

Featuring intimate new interviews and footage from Pete Rose, the documentary series chronicles his life and career in baseball. Extensive archival footage and contextual interviews with teammates, family, friends and journalists chronicle Rose’s heroic rise and subsequent banishment from the game and, years later, his bid to be reinstated into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
