Rotary Club of Salisbury appoints new president

Independent Salisbury

SALISBURY – The Rotary Club of Salisbury recently announced that BJ (Elizabeth) Summers will serve as its president for 2024-2025.

The new president will lead a 105-year-old, 90-member nonprofit organization whose mission is to help others. Summers takes the gavel from current president Ernie Colburn.

Summers has been a member of the Rotary Club since 2015 and has served on the board of directors, the Rotary Club of Salisbury Foundation, Inc. board of directors, the Three Point Initiative Committee, the Flags for Heroes Committee, and the club’s Scholarships Committee.

Summers has also volunteered for other Rotary activities, including Meals on Wheels, Mission of Mercy, the Fresh Start back-to-school program, and the Round for the Community golf outing on September 6, 2024.

She retired in 2021 as Director of Development and Donor Relations at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. She remains connected to the foundation by serving on its executive committee for the Women’s Fund, a foundation program that funds local nonprofits whose mission is to improve the lives of underserved women and girls.

She is also a member of the Community Foundation’s scholarship selection committee.

The Rotary Club of Salisbury said it welcomes new members interested in fellowship, fun and supporting their community. Contact Ginnie Malone at 410-251-6188 or [email protected] to learn more, or visit www.rotarysalisbury.org. The club meets weekly on Thursday evenings for dinner at the Rotary Scout and Community Center on Riverside Drive near Salisbury.
