The Southington Library wants people to open a book this summer

The local library’s 2024 summer reading program offers prizes for three different age groups, from children to adults.

SOUTHINGTON, CT – If you haven’t opened a book this summer, the Southington Public Library is offering some incentives to do so.

The library at 255 S. Main St., Southington, is offering three separate summer reading programs for different age groups this year – all under the theme “The adventure begins in your library.”

These programs combine the concept of summer reading with a wealth of prizes that reward those of every age group who are most engaged with literature.

The library also has a handy list of local schools’ summer reading requirements so parents and their children can quickly and easily see what’s in demand.

Some of the prizes offered to the program’s avid readers come from several of the event’s sponsors, including the Barnes Museum, Rosie’s Royal Chocolates, Target, Lake Compounce and Roger’s Orchards, among others.

According to the library, summer reading programs will continue through August 9.
