Taylor Swift sings breakup song “Last Kiss” allegedly about ex Joe Jonas: “Happy 9th of July”

Taylor Swift did not miss the opportunity to have a fun Easter egg about the participants in their Epoch tour Show in Zurich, Switzerland, on Tuesday, July 9th.

The 34-year-old singer referred to the date during the acoustic surprise songs Part of her set, she wished fans in the audience “a happy 9th of July to all who celebrate it.” She then performed a mashup of 2010’s “Last Kiss” and 2012’s “Sad Beautiful Tragic.”

“Last Kiss” was featured on Swift’s Speak Now Album and is said to have been written about her relationship with ex Joe Jonas. In the song, Swift sings: “I remember now the smell of the rain / Fresh on the pavement, I ran off the plane / On that 9th of July, the beat of your heart / It’s jumping through your shirt, I can still feel your arms.”

In promoting their Speak Now Album in 2010, Swift told ET that the songs were “more personal than anything” she had released up to that point, and that their release followed two “really intense” years for her personally, professionally, and everything in between.

“I don’t think I would have been happy with this album if I hadn’t written everything about it,” Swift told ET at the time. “I tend to include details and the whole story, because to me the most exciting thing about it and the most fascinating thing about music is the storytelling that’s woven into the lyrics.”

Jonas filed for divorce from Turner in September 2023 after four years of marriage. They have daughters Willa and Delphine together, who will turn 4 and 2 years old respectively later this month.

In the meantime, it’s been a year since Swift’s current boyfriend, the tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce, made his move to pop stardom. During Swift’s Eras tour stop in London last month, The couple even went out partying with Turner and more friends until 4 a.m. Kelce’s surprising stage debut.
