Willow the cat was recently banned from the Boots store in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The company cited health and safety concerns as the reason for the decision. However, local residents believe that banning the cat from the store goes too far. The pharmacy chain has no plans to back down as it wanted to provide its customers with a clean environment so they can shop without worry.

A local celebrity named Willow was recently banned from a Boots branch in the UK. The cat gained a following last year after being spotted in several branches. According to the BBC, Willow is two years old and belongs to a local who wished to remain anonymous. The beautiful tabby cat is a frequent visitor to Starbucks, Boots and Sainsbury’s branches in Didcot, Oxfordshire.

Willow has a Facebook group called ‘The Adventures of Willow from Didcot’ with around 6,000 followers. The cat’s fans use the public group to follow his daily escapades and Boots’ recent ban has been a hot topic in the group. Locals believe the health and beauty retailer has ‘gone too far’ with its decision.

People who have met the cat, who is famous on social media, describe him as gentle, friendly and lovable. Didcot resident Ian Nelmes also explained that the cat was very polite and waited behind him in queues. Moreover, everyone agrees that the kitten brings joy to the community and seeing him out and about was the highlight of the day.

A spokesperson for Boots told the BBC: “As a pharmacy-led retailer, health and safety is our number one priority.” The retailer wanted to ensure patients could shop in a hygienic environment. However, the company admits its staff love Willow as much as the rest of the community and they understand locals who are unhappy with the company’s decision.
