Chris Eubank Jr. signs new contract with Boxxer and has plans for big fights

As Sky Sports reports, Chris Eubank Jr. has just signed a new partnership deal with promotional company Boxxer and says he will try to silence any critics of the big fighters he has in his sights.

“I’m very happy to have signed with BOXXER and Ben Shalom. They fit the direction I want to go. We have big things planned for the next 12 to 24 months. There are big fights coming up and these guys can make them happen. This is a partnership. I have the freedom and latitude to work the way I want, which is very rare. I’m in a position of power. I’m able to really control the direction I want to go, so I’m excited,” said Eubank Jr.

Eubank Jr. added that although he has been a professional boxer for 12 years, he is still a hungry fighter who loves the sport and that he is now in a privileged position to facilitate a number of fights, specifically mentioning the likes of Canelo, Terence Crawford, Conor Benn and Billy Joe Saunders.

A supposed fight between Eubank Jr. and Benn seems like a doomed venture, as the fight has been seriously considered several times now and there are always obstacles that stand in its way. I don’t blame Eubank Jr. in any way for the obstacles this matchup has encountered, but it just feels like a fight that isn’t meant to happen.

If Eubank Jr. can secure a fight against Canelo or Crawford, they would certainly be fights that would attract considerable attention on both sides of the Atlantic. However, there will be doubters about Eubanks’ intentions and whether he will actually follow through with them.
