Warhammer X JOYTOY: Magnus the Red brings the action figure magic

The Warhammer X JOYTOY partnership produces another Primarch. Magnus The Red comes from the Horus Heresy!

Well, I think it’s safe to say they’ve done it again. Magnus The Red joins the ranks of Dorn, Russ, Horus and Abaddon as an epic action figure from JOYTOY. Behold the Primarch of the Thousand Sons in all his magical glory.

about the Warhammer community

“He is Magnus the Red, standing 10.25″ tall to the tip of his horns (that’s taller than even Horus) and brimming with mysterious magnificence. Every detail of his phenomenal resin miniature has been faithfully recreated, right down to the swirling magical effects that can shoot from his hands or wrap around his enormous Blade of Ahn-nunurta.”

Magnus the Red – JOYTOY Action Figure

This figure is really impressive as it is a faithful recreation of the resin miniature but as an action figure. They even copied the magical effects that shoot out of his hands. Seriously, look at these details:

For comparison, check out the resin miniature from Forge World:

The paintwork is different, but the action figure looks real close. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could recreate this pose with the resin action figure.

More Thousand Sons

Magnus The Red isn’t the only Thousand Son from the Horus Heresy era to come from JOYTOY, though. There’s a trio of helpful “friends” who accompany their Primarch.

Magistus Amon

“Magistus Amon served as his Primarch’s equerry throughout the Great Crusade, and rumor has it that he was even the young Magnus’s tutor before his reunion with the Emperor. Yet despite his great fame, he remained a mysterious and lonely figure.”

I like the details here too. The paint job isn’t as elaborate as miniature paint jobs can be, but it’s not bad! I also particularly like the details on the cape.

Azhek Ahriman

You know, it just wouldn’t feel like a proper Horus Heresy release for the Thousand Sons without Ahriman there to accompany his Primarch, so I’m glad JOYTOY got to do this one too. And again, this one looks like it has a lot of the same details as the miniature.

Praetor of the XV Legion

And finally, we get a “generic” XVth Legion Praetor. While this could just be a faceless Praetor, I still want to give my appreciation to this Terminator with all the bling he wears. He still has the Achaean Power Weapon that the Horus Heresy era Thousand Sons were also known for.

If you want to grab one of these figures, you can currently pre-order them from the Warhammer merch store.
