Can you ever get enough of Scooby-Doo? Working on the series alongside streaming giant Warner Bros. Television and Greg BerlantisBerlanti ProductionsBerlanti’s projects include The Lightning And Riverdalefans are excited to see what direction Mystery Inc. could take under his leadership. While plot details for the upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo Series remained reserved, Berlanti offered a new update.

Scooby-Doo is a popular animated series that follows the adventures of a group of four young adults known as Mystery Inc. and their talking Great Dane, the title character Scooby-Doo. In conversation with DeadlineBerlanti spoke about his personal connection to the franchise when asked what he had planned for the series. “One of my first jobs in the business was working as a temp at Hanna-Barbera. I sat with Joe Barbera and Bill Hanna while they signed animation cels.” said Berlanti. “I would go in the morning and get a bunch of these animation cels with my boss. First I went to Bill Hanna’s office. He was a very stoic guy. His office was very bare. And then came my favorite part of the day, visiting with Joe Barbera. He was such a life force. He would sign the cels, but he would stop and regale me with the most amazing stories. He was such a raconteur.”

The Lightning And Riverdale The producer further reveals that the pitch for the pilot episode of the series is currently being worked on. He adds:

“He told stories about how Scooby was created and what they were thinking and how it was in the late ’60s and kids felt attacked by adults and they were overwhelmed and they needed to be empowered. When they suggested it to Bill Paley, he said you need a dog or something. And that was the birth of Scooby-Doo. Joe was such a special storyteller and I was so excited. I had always loved them as a kid. And like I said, with all works, be it Hanna-Barbera or DC or anything at Warners, you feel lucky to be the historian that helps bring them into a new generation. You just go back to the spirit and the DNA of what makes them so special.
With
Scooby-Doo
we’ve been listening to pitches for a year and a half and finally found one that we think really hits the mark. I just worked on the pitch for the first episode this morning, so we’re really excited
