Everyone has that crazy aunt (or uncle) who loves to tell jokes or do weird impersonations at Thanksgiving. But not everyone has an aunt who also happens to be one of the most famous cartoon voice actresses of all time. And certainly not everyone in that family happens to be a successful pop superstar.

Thanks to a TikTok video answering a fan’s question about whether Sabrina Carpenter is actually her niece, the world learned this week that the Emmy winner Nancy Cartwright — the voice of the lovable troublemaker in shorts Bart Simpson for over 35 years – is actually the aunt of the “Please Please Please” singer.

“Is Sabrina Carpenter your niece?” Cartwright said in the 17-second clip, in which she posted a snapshot of herself with the singer and captioned it, “yes, absolutely.”

“Isn’t it incredible to find out that someone you may have known for a while has been playing this little 10-year-old boy for 35 years, and some of you even less, to find out that I’m related to this superstar,” said Cartwright, 66. “She’s really incredible.” Cartwright has voiced Simpson since the longest-running animated sitcom began airing on Fox in 1989, and in addition to Bart, she also voices Maggie Simpson, Ralph Wiggum, Todd Flanders and Nelson Muntz.

The comments on Cartwright’s video were a testament to the jaw-dropping nature of this reveal, including: “Sabrina Carpenter is related to Bart Simpson, ay, caramba!”, “Can we hear Bart sing Espresso?! PLEEEEEEE,” “But why does it make so much sense that Sabrina is related to Bart Simpson??? This really is a family setting,” and “I love the proud aunt vibe.”

The voice acting activity seems to run in the family, because the former Life and I Star, whose Short and sweet Album will be released on August 23. He has also dubbed several cartoon series, including Phineas and Ferb And Milo Murphy’s Law among others.
