Fans discover connection between Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce and “Karma”

Taylor Swift‘s relationship with Travis Kelce has put the invisible string theory to the test – and fans are convinced they have found another unexpected connection between the couple.

Those familiar with the couple’s love story know the power of Swift’s song “Karma,” but social media sleuths have honed in on a 2022 TikTok that gives it new meaning. When Swift, 34, announced the release of her album, midnight As part of her series “Midnights Mayhem With Me,” she uploaded the video revealing the name of track 11 on October 5, 2022 – coincidentally Kelce’s birthday.

Fans could barely contain their shock when the video resurfaced of X. “Not invisible…golden iridescent magical threads tying them together because what in the world…” wrote one user, while another joked, “Maybe Karma was the guy on the Chiefs all along, we just didn’t know it yet.”

midnight was released on October 21, 2022 and the lyrics to “Karma” are said to have been inspired by Swift’s then-boyfriend, Joe AlwynIn the bridge, she sings, “Karma is the guy on the screen / That comes right home to me,” alluding to Alwyn’s acting career.

We weekly confirmed in April 2023 that the couple had split after six years together. Swift continued with the 1975 singer Matty Healybut their relationship was short-lived.

As Kelce, 34, Swifts Epoch tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium in July 2023, he had a plan. The athlete revealed on his podcast “New Heights” later that month that he wanted to give Swift his phone number on a friendship bracelet, but was “pissed” when he didn’t get the chance to meet her backstage. Swift got wind of the name-dropping – and everything changed.

Swift has since incorporated the lyric change into her show several times, but only when Kelce is in the audience. He has flown around the world to support his girlfriend on her record-breaking tour, most recently attending a show in Amsterdam with Patrick And Brittany Mahomes.

Fans have fallen head over heels in love with Swift and Kelce’s love story, and “Karma” isn’t the first invisible thread – a term Swifties have been obsessed with since she released a song of the same name on folklore in 2020 – they found it. Kam Saundersone of Swift’s Epoch tour Dancer, is the brother of former Chiefs player Khalen Saunderswho won two Super Bowls with Kelce over the years.

Kelce had previously indicated WSJ. Magazine that he “had someone playing cupid for him” before his romance with Swift began, with some fans believing the Saunders brothers may have been the connection.

“Everyone around me was telling me, ‘Don’t screw this up!’ And I’m sitting here saying, ‘Yeah, got it,'” he said in November 2023.
