Police warn of recent Taylor Swift concert ticket scams in Perkasie area

Scammers advertising Taylor Swift concert tickets are the reason some fans are leaving tears on their guitars.

The Perkasie County Police Department is warning the public about reports from residents of online scams on social media involving concert tickets for the popular musician.

The police advised concertgoers to only buy their tickets from reputable companies.

If you are being scammed, you cannot start a conversation by saying “It’s me, hello, I’m the problem.” The Perkasie County Police Department therefore offers tips on how to recognize and avoid scams:

Be sure to research the company you are buying from and only purchase tickets from the venue, the promoter (e.g. Live Nation), an official agent (e.g. Ticketmaster), or a well-known and reputable ticket exchange website.

Search engines like Google are not always the best place to start, as unauthorized ticket resellers can buy their way to the top of search results with ads.

Avoid paying for tickets by bank transfer, especially if you buy them from an unknown person. Credit cards or payment services such as PayPal give you a better chance of getting your money back if you fall victim to a scam.

Be wary of unsolicited emails, SMS or advertisements with incredibly cheap ticket offers – it is more than likely that such offers are too good to be true.
