Chris Eubank Jr. signs promotional deal with BOXXER and aims for showdowns against Canelo and Crawford

Chris Eubank Jr. is once again receiving advertiser support for the biggest fights of his career.

The second-generation boxer has entered into a “career-defining partnership” with Ben Shalom’s BOXXER, both parties announced on Tuesday. The move comes after Eubank declared his free agent following a previous stint with Wasserman Boxing.

This also happened because his name has moved to the top of the ongoing Canelo Alvarez sweepstakes.

“I’m very happy to have signed with BOXXER and Ben Shalom,” Eubank said on Wednesday. “They fit the direction I want to go. We have big plans for the next 12 to 24 months. There are big fights coming up and these guys can make it happen.”

“This is a partnership. I have the freedom and latitude to work the way I want, which is very rare. I’m in a position of power. I’m able to really control the direction I want to go, so I’m excited.”

Eubank (33-3, 24 KOs) has not fought since a tenth-round stoppage of Liam Smith last September in Manchester, England. The revenge-driven outing saw the ring’s No. 5-ranked middleweight return bloodied following a fourth-round stoppage loss to Smith last January.

Both fights were sponsored by BOXXER.

The two fights with Liverpool’s Smith (33-4-1, 20 KOs), No. 7 at 160, helped fill the void after a frustrating 2022. Eubank was scheduled to face Conor Benn, who was pulled from their October 2022 show after testing positive for clomiphene.

Oddly enough, the only big name linked to Eubank since those fights was his stablemate at the time, Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0-1, 31 KOs). Both boxers were training with Brian “Bomac” McIntyre when the false rumors started.

Crawford is now back on Eubanks’ list of targets, but he is the favorite for a more lucrative fight against Mexican Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs), the current undisputed super middleweight world champion.

“I’ve been in the business for 12 years now and I’m still hungry,” said Eubank. “I’m still excited. I still love boxing. There are 4 or 5 different names out there that are mega fights that everyone wants to see. Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford, Conor Benn, Billy Joe Saunders – and those are just the names that spring to mind.

“There are a lot more fights out there that can be fought, including domestically, so I’m in an exciting position.”

His new team will do everything they can to get him there.

“Chris Eubank Jr. is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in boxing,” said Shalom. “Wherever he goes, he generates excitement and intrigue. BOXXER is his natural home and I am incredibly excited to work with Chris to ensure we fully realize his enormous potential and unbridled ambition.”

“We have had the privilege of working with Chris on some big fight nights in the UK and there are many more to come in the UK and internationally. He is a real pay-per-view star. The hunger and ambition are there. We can’t wait to see him back in action and in some big fights.”
