Chris Eubank Jr. signs with Boxxer ahead of “mega fights”

Amid speculation that he could face Saul “Canelo” Alvarez next, Chris Eubank Jr. has teamed up with promoter Boxxer.

Eubank, who previously worked as a promoter for Wasserman Boxing, recently became a free agent and signed with the company of Ben Shalom, with whom he has worked before, most notably in two recent fights with Liam Smith.

According to a press release announcing the link-up and the boxer’s career, “mega-fights are planned and (Eubank) promises to silence his national rivals ahead of his highly anticipated return to the ring.”

“I’ve been in the business for 12 years now and I’m still hungry,” said the 34-year-old challenger. “I’m still excited. I still love the sport of boxing. I’m in a fortunate position right now that there are four or five different names out there that are mega fights that everyone wants to see. Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford, Conor Benn, Billy Joe Saunders – and those are just the names that spring to mind. There are many more fights that can be organized, even domestically, so I’m in an exciting position.”

Eubank Jr. is 33-3 (24 KOs) and has wins over James DeGale, Arthur Abraham, Liam Smith, Matvey Korobov, Avni Yildirim and Dmitrii Chudinov.

He stopped Smith in the 10th.th Round in his last fight in September.

Shalom said: “Chris Eubank Jr. is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in boxing. Wherever he goes he generates excitement and intrigue. BOXXER is his natural home and I am incredibly excited to be working with Chris to ensure we fully exploit his enormous potential and unbridled ambition. We have had the privilege of working with Chris on some big fight nights in the UK and there are many more to come in the UK and around the world. He is a genuine pay-per-view star. The hunger and ambition are there. We can’t wait to see him back in action and in some big fights.”

The BOXXER stable also includes WBO cruiserweight world champion Chris Billam-Smith, promising light heavyweight prospect Ben Whittaker, unified welterweight world champion Lauren Price, WBO No. 1 light heavyweight contender Joshua Buatsi and rising stars Adam Azim, Caroline Dubois, Viddal Riley and Karriss Artingstall.

Eubank Jr. added: “I’m very happy to have signed with BOXXER and Ben Shalom. They fit the direction I want to go. We have big things planned for the next 12 to 24 months. There are big fights coming up and these guys can make them happen. This is a partnership. I have the freedom and latitude to work the way I want to work, which is very rare. I’m in a position of power. I’m able to really control the direction I want to go, so I’m excited.”
