Another suspected heat death reported in Portland metro

PORTLAND, Oregon (KPTV) – Another suspected heat-related death was reported in Multnomah County on Tuesday.

A sixth potentially heat-related death was reported in Coos County on Tuesday evening. According to the Oregon State Medical Examiner, the deceased man was 33 years old.

The deaths of four county residents are currently being investigated for heat-related deaths.

During the first heat wave of the year, the Multnomah County Coroner’s Office reported that it was investigating four deaths.

The first death believed to be related to this emergency – an 87-year-old man with a zip code of 97230 – was reported on Friday, July 5.

The second death – a 64-year-old man with the 97206 zip code – was reported on Sunday, July 7.

The third death – a 75-year-old man with the 97216 zip code – was also reported on Sunday, July 7.

The fourth death – a 67-year-old woman with a zip code of 97212 – was reported on Monday, July 8.

Additionally, on Saturday, July 6, a 33-year-old man from outside Multnomah County was transported to a Portland hospital where he died. The individual was a resident of Clackamas County.

Investigators believe confirmation will not be completed for several weeks or months.
