Ariana Grande hits back at criticism over her voice change | Ariana Grande | Just Jared: Celebrity news and gossip

ArianaGrande is tired of putting up with all the haters.

The 31-year-old singer and actress was recently heavily criticized for her voice breaking. She said that her voice broke as a result of her role as Glinda in the highly anticipated musical film. Evil.

In a new interview Ariana responded to the criticism by saying that voice change is “something completely normal, especially if you have a large vocal range.”

Read on to find out more…“I just spent a lot of time playing a character every day,” Ariana said about the role of Glinda on the Shut up, Evan Podcasts.

“(I) trained my voice to do different things for a long time before I left for London and before all this happened; muscle memory is a real thing,” Ariana explained.

She then denounced the double standards surrounding transformative acting roles for men and women.

“I mean, when you see male actors, of course people make jokes here and there, but looking back you always think, ‘Oh wow, how dedicated he is to his craft! What an incredible transformation! He’s a brilliant actor!'” Ariana noted. “But then it’s like, God forbid, I sneeze like Glinda or something, (then) I’m just crazy… it’s the weirdest thing.”

Also in her new interview Ariana spoke about vocal health and said that maintaining it is “a full-time commitment and a lifestyle. It’s not something you can mess around with.”

“It’s your lifeline, it’s your tool and it’s something you can take out of a box and put back,” she continued. “It’s something that needs to be thought about 24/7.”
