Taylor Casey missing: Bahamas police suspend Michael Johnson, a senior official involved in the search for a missing Chicago woman

CHICAGO (WLS) — The Royal Bahamas Police Force has announced the suspension of a senior officer involved in the investigation into the disappearance of a Chicago woman.

Taylor Casey, last seen on June 19 on Paradise Island. She was in the Bahamas for a yoga vacation.

The suspension of Chief Superintendent and senior detective Michael Johnson came late last week following a “worrying voice message” that circulated on social media. Authorities did not specify what the voice message said.

Another officer, Chief Superintendent Anthon Rahming, will assume the duties of the duty officer of the Criminal Investigation Department for the duration of the suspension.

Police in the Bahamas had previously released an update on the recovery of Casey’s phone on Monday.

They announced that police found the ship at a depth of over 15 meters and that neither Bahamian nor U.S. authorities had been able to obtain any information about the ship.

Police also announced on Monday that the dogs had picked up a trail from the yoga tent during their search, but the search ultimately led to nothing.

Casey’s mother traveled to the retreat after her daughter’s disappearance, but said her visit was “deeply disturbing.”

“I just felt like they didn’t care. They didn’t care at all,” Colette Seymore said.

The family is calling on the FBI to intervene because without their help they may never know what happened to her.
