SKID ROW on the search for a new singer: “We have a few guys on the radar that we will have auditioned”

During a question-and-answer session last weekend Days of the Dead Horror and pop culture convention in Indianapolis, Skid Row – The Last Chance Bassist Rachel Bolan was asked about the band’s current activities. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “We are constantly writing and throwing ideas at each other. At the moment we are looking for a singer. I can already hear you rolling your eyes. Our (last) singer, Eric (Greenwall), to prioritize his health, (which) was understandable. So we’re just taking our time right now because we have time. And we have a few guys on the radar that we’re going to audition. And there are a few of our friends that want to do what (HEALING STORM‘S) Lzzy Hale did and sat (as lead singer) for a few (Skid Row – The Last Chance) shows. And that is fun too. It was so much fun to do these (four) shows (with Lzzy end of May and beginning of June).”

Added Skid Row – The Last Chance guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo: “We also have a live recording (‘Living in London’) is coming out too. It’s coming out in the next couple of months. And we did it in London, which was really special for us because that city has had a place in our hearts since the band started. So it was a place where we could capture a moment in time forever, so to speak. And it was a really fun show. And I’m so happy that after all this time of Skid Row – The Last Chancethat we were finally able to make a live recording. We are very proud of that.”

A little over a month ago Rachel confirmed to Meltdown of Detroit’s WRIF Radio station where he and his bandmates talked to singers about possible successors GreenwallHe explained: “Nobody by name, actually. But yes, we’ve spoken to a few people who have definitely piqued our interest.”

When asked if he was working on new music for a possible 2022 follow-up “The whole gang is here” Album, Rachel said: “We wrote. I wrote a lot when I could. I wrote between moving from Nashville back to New Jersey and all that stuff. But yeah, I’m always writing. Whenever I could hear something in the supermarket, I would quickly pay and drive home as fast as I could and Professional tools (write down the ideas).”

In May, Sabo concluded a reunion with Skid Row – The Last Chanceformer singer Sebastian Bach On The Hook Rocks podcast, he said: “It’s not going to happen. And I say the same thing every time. I’m grateful that people are so interested in making this happen, but I also have to reiterate that it’s about being happy with the situation you’re in. So I’m speaking for myself personally.

“First of all, I have to say something, namely that the reason why this is not happening is because there are three of us – myself, Scotti (hill, Skid Row – The Last Chance guitarist) and Rachel — who talked about it, and we all agreed that we don’t want to go down that path again. We just don’t want to.

Rachel has suffered a difficult time over the years,” Sabo continued. “He’s the one who was blamed for it. ‘Oh, it’s Rachel‘s ego.’ ‘It’s this and that.’ No, that’s a load of nonsense. That’s not true. And I feel bad because he really, really had to take that blame and never said anything derogatory or anything like that. But you know what? The truth is that Rachel, Scotti and I have always had the same feeling that we enjoy being happy in this band and we are really happy.

“The last 35 years have been a great experience, everything, all the highs, all the lows, everything, but we don’t want to revisit that particular aspect of our history,” he explained. “I love the songs, (I) love a lot of the memories, (I) don’t like some of the memories, but as individuals and as a collective, that’s just how we feel. So this is not on Rachel. And this has nothing to do with anyone’s ego or anything like that. So that has to be clear. Again, if someone sits there and assumes that this Rachel Bolan Saying no is not it. The three of us are there and we all sat there together and just said we don’t want to do it. We just don’t want to do it. And we wish everyone the best.”

Snake added: “We were torn apart by ex-band members and stuff – torn apart. Really shitty stuff was said about all of us. And we just decided not to respond. That’s not who I am. That’s not who we are. We’re not going down that path. We just want to make music and be happy. It was never really about a financial aspect, because it’s well known that we were offered a lot of money to do shows together and to reunite (with Sebastian) and whatever, but it was never about the money, man. I choose my happiness, my willingness to continue to be a really good friend to my best friends and a really good husband and a really good father and bandmate and human being. And I don’t want to compromise that in any way. So the people we play with are chosen to keep those special things in balance for all of us.”

Four months ago, Greenwall stop Skid Row – The Last Chance to focus on your health.

Ericwho was Skid Row – The Last Chancefourth frontman since BachHe was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia before leaving the band in March 2021 and was diagnosed with an immune deficiency that made his tours difficult.

Bach confronted Skid Row – The Last Chance until 1996, when he was fired. Instead of throwing in the towel, the remaining members took a break and played briefly in a band called OZONE MONDAY. In 1999, Skid Row – The Last Chance reformed and, after several line-up changes over the years, consisted of bassist Rachel BolanGuitarists Dave “Snake” Sabo And Scotti Hillnext to drummer Robert Hammersmith and singer Johnny Solinger. Skid Row – The Last Chance fired Solingen on the phone in April 2015, a few hours before the announcement of theTNT Singer Tony Harnell as his successor. Eight months later Harnell left the band and was replaced by the South African-born, UK-based singer ZP Theartthe former frontman of DRAGON POWER, TANK And I AM ME. Art was released from Skid Row – The Last Chance in February 2022 and was replaced by Greenwallwho was previously a member of the Swedish hard rock band HEAT

Four years ago, Bolan also confirmed that he and his bandmates were “playing with the idea” of reuniting with Bach the following Harnell‘s departure. But Rachel rejected the possibility of reviving his friendship with Sebastianand explained: “Well… Here is the soundbite for Chatterbox. I wouldn’t say we were friends (when we were in a band together). We were bandmates. You know what I mean? We’re two very different people.” Bolan added that he had not seen Bach “in years.”

Five years ago, Bach was asked by Rolling Stone what it takes to Skid Row – The Last Chance He replied: “It would take these guys to realise that I have a manager for life. His name is Rick Sales. I’ve been with him since 2006. They don’t want anything to do with a guy like that. They want to give $700 to $800 a week to a singer who doesn’t have a manager. I have a team that has worked with me and won’t let me get screwed. When I was 19, I didn’t have that team.”

As answer to BachStatements about the earnings of Skid Row – The Last ChanceSinger, Sabo told Rolling Stone in an email: “I guess fact-checking is not one of his skills… The five of us go on stage as a band and we all get paid equally. We are in this together. There are no egos.”

Sebastian further said that Skid Row – The Last Chance “was close to a reunion, but then it didn’t happen. The fact that it didn’t happen makes me a little bitter, of course, because life is getting shorter and shorter, as the song says,” he added.

“I wouldn’t say it was close.” Bolan told Rolling Stone in an email reply to BachReport from the reunification talks. “We played with the idea. Snake and I even went so far as to talk to agents and promoters about money. But after a few text conversations, we quickly learned why we fired him in the first place. Nothing is worth your happiness and peace of mind.”

Sabo added: “It was a miserable experience and we didn’t even talk on the phone.”
