FIRST WARNING ACTION DAY: Tracking of more extreme and record-breaking heat extended until Friday

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – A First alarm action day of the weather authority is in effect as extremely hot temperatures continue to affect the entire desert Southwest.

To prevent heat-related illnesses, it is extremely important to pay attention to heat protection throughout the day.

A strong ridge of high pressure is the reason why we feel this heat not only in our area, but throughout the region.

For the rest of the work week, temperatures will continue to be 10 degrees or more above average.

A Excessive heat WARNING was extended in recent days and will remain in effect for Yuma and Imperial counties until Friday.

A Air quality alarm also applies to parts of the desert in the southwest until Wednesday, as the high temperatures lead to increased ozone levels (smog).

I’m following the record highs and lows for the next few days.

Humidity will increase by the weekend, causing our temperatures to cool a bit and possible rain showers from Saturday into Sunday.
