Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds” joins Spotify’s “Billions Club”

Bob MarleyThe classic “Three Little Birds” has joined Spotify’s Billions Club, becoming Marley’s first song to reach this milestone.

“Three Little Birds” is a study in beautiful, simple optimism. The song is from Marley’s Exodusone of the most influential records of all time. Released on June 3, 1977, the record not only contains “Three Little Birds” but also popular hits such as “Jamming” and “One Love/People Get Ready.” Time The magazine has called Exodus “the best album of the 20th century.” The making of the record plays a major role in the BET Award-winning film One Lovewhich came to cinemas earlier this year.

To celebrate the film’s release, Marley’s estate has released a limited edition of Exodus. Released on June 7, it features the album’s original cover art (as seen in the film). It also includes an exclusive 10-inch LP with rare bonus tracks and an essay by Jamaican historian Herbie Miller.

In other Marley news, a visualizer for the influential song “Punky Reggae Party” was released last month. The official release of “Turn Your Lights Down Low” featuring Lauryn Hill also appeared on YouTube. Hill’s version of “Turn Your Lights Down Low” first appeared on the compilation Chant Down Babylonwhich includes remixes and covers of Marley’s most important songs performed by major artists of the time, including Rakim, The Roots, MC Lyte and others. The newly released video features Marley’s son Rohan.
