GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Several West Michigan businesses have received funding through the state’s Match on Main program.
The program offers up to $25,000 to businesses opening or expanding on their community’s Main Street.
According to a memo from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, 113 businesses from 80 communities applied for the program this year. A total of 31 businesses – including 15 restaurants – received grants totaling about $748,000.
Grant recipients included several West Michigan companies:
- Mosaic Distillery in Plainwell, $25,000
- Hart Pizza in Hart, $25,000
- Tilt 118, LLC in Allegan, $25,000
- McDuff’s Bar and Grille in Wayland, $21,670
- Hope Café (by the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence) in Coldwater, $20,278
- Layla’s Cool Pops, Inc. in Kalamazoo, $25,000
- My damn pizza in Sturgis, $25,000
- Watermark Brewing Company, LLC in Stevensville, $22,157
- The Be Hyve Collection in Cassopolis, $25,000
- Coastal Blue in South Haven, $25,000
“Small businesses are the cornerstone of what makes Michigan’s downtowns authentic. They bring vibrancy and contribute to a community’s sense of place,” the MEDC memo states.
