Rotary Club prepares for the 48th Domino World Championship Tournament

The Rotary Club of Andalusia will host the 48th Domino World Championship Tournament on Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13.

Domino players from across the United States will gather in Andalusia to challenge for the title from Norman Turner of Ozark, the reigning individual champion, as well as Lyndon Livingston of Kinder, LA, and Rickey Rambo of Kansas City, MO. who is the defending champion in doubles?

This year’s tournament will feature a $5,000 prize for the winner of the singles competition and $2,500 for the winners of the doubles competition. In addition, over $20,000 in cash prizes is guaranteed.

In addition, the club is hosting a Fantastic Dominoes raffle and steak dinner on Friday night with a $15,000 prize. Raffle tickets, which cost $100, give the holder a chance to win the prize money and two dinners. Benji and Amy Mikel, owners of Tabby D’s, will be hosting the dinner this year.

Early registration is $100 per player for adult singles or doubles. Late registration is subject to a $10 fee. The club also hosts tournaments for youth and children.

Ivy Rogers will serve as the Miss World Championship 2024 Domino Queen at this week’s tournament. Ivy will be present at drawings and award ceremonies.

The Andalusia Rotary Club, which sponsors the WCDT, originally hosted a pageant, but in recent years the Rotary Club has partnered with the Distinguished Young Woman of Covington County program to hire DYW as the Domino Queen.

The event will be held at the Kiwanis Community Center, 20096 S. Bypass, Andalusia.
