Spider-Man Noir live-action series gets new title and casts Lamorne Morris

New Girls Lamorne Morris is alongside Nicolas Cage in the upcoming Spider-Man Noir Series called Spider-Noir.

Based on the Marvel comic book Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Noir is an upcoming live-action series in which Cage reprises the role he first played in an animated series in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

According to Deadline, Morris has been cast as Robbie Robertson in the Marvel series Prime Video and MGM+. According to a May 2024 Variety article, the series was previously referred to as “Noir” but will now apparently be called Spider-Noir.

Created by Stan Lee, John Romita Sr., and Mickey Demeo, Robbie Robertson made his Marvel Comics debut in 1967’s Amazing Spider-Man #51. Usually a supporting character in Spider-Man stories, Robertson is an editor at the Daily Bugle and a close friend of J. Jonah Jameson. He was previously played by Bill Nunn in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films.

Morris is best known for his role as Winston Bishop in New Girl. He also starred in Hulu’s woke series and had a significant role in the fifth season of FX’s Fargo. He has appeared in films such as Game Night (2018), The Christmas Chronicles (2018), Yesterday (2019), Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), and Bloodshot (2020), and he will soon be seen in Jason Reitman’s SNL 1975 as Garrett Morris.

What else do we know about the Spider-Man Noir series?

Spider-Noir “tells the story of an aging and down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York who must come to terms with his former life as the city’s only superhero,” according to Deadline.

Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot are co-showrunners of Spider-Noir. Harry Bradbeer directs and executive produces the first two episodes of the eight-episode series, while Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal also serve as executive producers.

There is no premiere date yet for Spider-Noir, but the series will debut on MGM+ before coming to Amazon Prime Video.
