Which song was used in the teaser trailer for “Agatha All Along”?

Marvel is effectively expanding its WandaVision universe, with Agatha Harkness being the first step. This week, fans were introduced to the brand new Disney+ Marvel series Agatha All Along, which continues the Marvel witch’s story of regaining her powers.

Starring WandaVision’s Kathryn Hahn, the teaser trailer gives insights into the exciting and humorous plot, accompanied by fitting music. The trailer begins with a popular song that fits perfectly with the mystical themes of the Marvel show and the witchy powers of Agatha Harkness.

Which song is used in the “Agatha All Along” teaser?

Although the teaser trailer for Agatha All Along starts with spooky themes, they saved the best for last. Kathryn Hahn’s big reveal as Agatha Harkness is capped off with cult hit “Seven Devils” by Florence + The Machine.

It is the chart-topping track from the indie rock band’s second album, Ceremonials. Released in 2011, the song’s lyrics reference medieval demons and are essentially about a desire for revenge. Florence Welch, the band’s lead singer, once revealed that the song was partly inspired by the book If He Hollers Let Him Go by author Chester Himes, as reported by Wiki Fandom.

The Grammy-nominated song “Agatha All Along,” which also went viral, from WandaVision episode 7 titled “Breaking The Fourth Wall,” could have potentially been heard in the trailer, but the creators found a better alternative.

Still, Seven Devils and Florence’s music has a history of pinpricks in other popular series as well. In the trailer for Game of Thrones season 2, Florence’s song was used to reference the Seven Deadly Sins in the plot, build up to the War of the Five Kings, and of course, the Red Witch, Melisandre’s introduction, according to SlashFilm.

Whereas “Dream Girl Evil” from the rock band “Dance Fever”’s 2022 album was featured in the credits of “Yellowjackets” season 2, episode 7, titled “Burial”.

So don’t be surprised if the next time you have a show that’s themed around witches or another cult, a new song by Florence + The Machine is included to give the show a special kick.

What is Marvel’s Agatha All Along about?

Marvel released the first trailer for “Agatha All Along” on Monday, July 8. It previews the return of Agatha Harkness, who tries to break free from the spell of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch in “WandaVision” (2021).

The spin-off confirms speculation about The Scarlet Witch’s death after she was trapped in the collapse of the Darkhold temple in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The trailer for Agatha All Along reveals that her cause of death was “blunt force trauma.”

“That witch is gone, leaving you trapped in her twisted spell,” says the character played by Aubrey Plaza, who will become Agatha’s closest confidante in the series, in the trailer.

Now that she is gone, Agatha Harkness and her coven will follow the path of the witches. The path of the witches is a magical path full of trials that rewards the witch with the restoration of her powers if she overcomes it.

The Marvel show features an ensemble cast including Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ali Ahn and Okwui Okpokwasili, as well as guest stars Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza and Debra Jo Rupp.

The two-episode premiere of “Agatha All Along” will take place on September 18, 2024 on Disney+.
