Morgan Riddle sparks social media controversy after Taylor Fritz’s Wimbledon win

Morgan Riddle, the girlfriend of top American tennis player Taylor Fritz, is “the most famous woman in men’s tennis”.

She has built up a large following on social media by documenting her travels around the world to support Fritz at his tournaments. On Monday, she shared a series of Instagram stories following Fritz’s surprise win over Alexander Zverev at Wimbledon before promptly deleting them.

The stories caused a stir and controversy after some thought they were subtle jabs at Zverev, with Riddle calling it a “misunderstanding.”

Riddle addressed the social media frenzy in a follow-up story after deleting the original stories.

“As for my stories from yesterday… I deleted them when I realized there were misunderstandings and how much the media had blown them out of proportion,” Riddle wrote. “They were not about anything that happened off the court and there was no bad blood between anyone.”

“I’m super proud of (Taylor) for yesterday’s game, thanks to the crowd for the support and I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

Fritz returns to action on Wednesday, July 10, for a quarterfinal clash with Italian No. 25 seed Lorenzo Musetti.

The winner will face the winner of the No. 9 Alex de Minaur vs. No. 2 Novak Djokovic match later in the day on Friday, July 12.

Morgan will be there watching.
