“We just won $4 million!”
That’s what a Saginaw County man shouted as he scratched off a Michigan Lottery instant ticket at a gas station after receiving a confusing message on a lottery scanner, according to the Michigan Lottery.
The 52-year-old man, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased two Ultimate Instant Tickets valued at $4,000,000 at a supermarket, scratched off the barcodes and scanned the tickets in the store.
When he scanned the first ticket, he received a message asking him to make a claim. He scanned the ticket again and received the same message, making him think the scanner was broken. Then when he scanned the second ticket, a message appeared that he expected, which confused him.

The man purchased the $30 ticket at the Fastlane convenience store at 3540 State Street in Saginaw.
He recently claimed his prize and opted to receive it as a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $2.7 million.
