How to store chocolate

Temperature control

By storing the chocolate at 15 to 21 degrees Celsius, the consistency will be maintained for a while. Temperature fluctuations can cause chocolate to form a whitish layer or lose its consistency.

Say no to cooling

Another way to store chocolate is to avoid storing it in the fridge. While it’s tempting to store chocolate in the fridge, all the smells and flavors are lost in the fridge, so storing it at room temperature is always the best option.

Airtight containers

Close the chocolates well. Store them in an airtight container and protect them from direct sunlight or strong artificial light. UV rays can soften the chocolates and cause them to develop an unpleasant taste. To prevent the chocolate from melting, choose airtight containers. This will preserve the aroma and taste.

Proper packaging is the best way

The original packaging is the best way to store chocolate, so keep your chocolate in its original packaging until you are ready to eat it. Alternatively, you can wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil.

The storage period is important

To get the best taste, you should consume chocolate within the best-before date. Because it contains less milk, dark chocolate generally lasts longer than milk or white chocolate.

Storage locations

Storing chocolate in a cool, dry place will help it stay fresh for a long time. Store chocolate in a pantry, cupboard or drawer, away from heat sources such as ovens or stoves. Make sure it is not near strong-smelling foods such as onions or spices.
