Mob attacks man as he is taken into custody in connection with NYC woman’s death

An angry mob of neighbors attempted to beat a person connected to the murder of a woman who was found stuffed into a sleeping bag when she was taken into custody on Monday, a heartbreaking video shows.

Dozens of locals, including the 31-year-old victim’s distraught mother, surrounded the 55-year-old man as he was taken on a stretcher from the Straus Houses, a NYCHA complex in Kips Bay, the video shows.

Apparently one man landed at least one punch, while others also tried to impose their own version of street justice.

The man, who was handcuffed to the stretcher, was taken away in an ambulance and later questioned by detectives in connection with Yazmeen Williams’ death, the same sources said.

The chaos broke out after Williams was found snuggled in his sleeping bag next to a pile of trash on a Manhattan street on Friday.

Police on Monday classified her death as a homicide and said she was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.

The person in question also personally confronted Williams’ mother, Nicole Williams, as he was placed in the back of an NYU Langone ambulance.

“You killed my daughter,” Nicole Williams screamed, pointing at the man, whom police have not yet identified or charged.

Others also insulted him, calling him a “crackhead” among other things. Someone else shouted that he should be “killed.”

After the ambulance drove away with its siren blaring, investigators put their arms around Nicole Williams.

Williams had told The Post earlier that day that she believed her daughter’s killer was a friend of hers who uses a wheelchair.

The suspect came onto the NYPD’s radar after he was seen in a power wheelchair pulling the sleeping bag behind him, law enforcement sources said.

Where Williams’ fatal shooting took place was unclear Monday.
