A Davenport man was arrested following a chase that began in Muscatine County and ended within the city limits of Muscatine.
A Muscatine County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle for a traffic violation on Taylor Avenue near the intersection of 155th Street in Muscatine County at 7:01 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024. The motorcycle was unable to stop and continued south on Taylor Avenue at a high rate of speed. The deputy pursued the motorcycle onto Highway 61 and into the Muscatine city limits.
The motorcycle was subsequently involved in a traffic accident on East 2nd Street in Muscatine, which ended the chase. The driver of the motorcycle fled the scene on foot and attempted to escape by diving into the waters of Mad Creek.
Michael Edward Zahn, 30, of Davenport was subsequently taken into custody and charged with several traffic and felony charges.
The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Muscatine Police Department, Muscatine County Search and Rescue Unit, and Muscatine Emergency Services in tracking and apprehending the suspect.
