Michigan DNR land auction includes riparian land and 80 acres of forest

(FOX 2) – From lakefront properties to undeveloped lots nestled in woods, there are plenty of properties for sale at Michigan’s upcoming land auction.

The Ministry of Natural Resources has listed 91 properties for sale through online auctions for August and September.

These include shoreline on Trout Lake in Chippewa County and Seminole Lake in Otsego County. For those looking to go further north, there is an 80-acre parcel in Grand Traverse County and for someone looking for something closer, a 50-acre parcel in Livingston County.

The DNR puts lands up for auction for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they are not profitable to manage or access to them is not practical for government purposes.

If an interested buyer finds something they like, they must pre-register at www.tax-sale.info. Bids are placed whenever the county’s properties are auctioned.

The state has created a schedule that begins on August 2 in Easton and Livingston counties. From there, auctions will continue throughout the month and into early September. While bidding is underway, bids can be placed starting at 10 a.m. and will be open until the auctions end at 7 p.m.

Some of the largest lots available are in Alpena, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Dickinson, Eaton, Grand Traverse, Livingston, Luce, Manistee, Marquette, Menominee, Midland, Ogemaw, Otsego and Presque Isle Counties.
