Stevie Nicks says there is “no chance” of a Fleetwood Mac reunion after Christine McVie’s death

Stevie Nicks says there is “no chance” of a Fleetwood Mac reunion after Christine McVie’s death

Fleetwood Mac no longer exists.

In an interview with MOJOStevie Nicks talked about the future of the band and life without Christine McVie, who died at the age of 79 from a stroke and metastatic cancer.

The 76-year-old “Landslide” singer recalled how she learned of the death of her late friend and bandmate.

“It was all incredibly strange because there was no warning whatsoever,” Nicks told the publication. “We got a call and I wanted to rent a plane and go see her, but her family said, ‘Don’t come because she might not be here tomorrow.’ And the next day she died.”

She continued: “I wanted to go there, sit on her bed and sing to her – that would definitely have made her die faster. But I had to be with her. And I couldn’t. So that was very hard for me. I couldn’t say goodbye.”

Nicks also addressed the status of Fleetwood Mac, which she believes has no future without McVie.

“It can’t happen without Christine,” she said. “There’s no chance of getting Fleetwood Mac back together. It just wouldn’t work without her.”

Nicks also broached the idea of reuniting with guitarist Lindsey Buckingham – with whom she had a long-standing, broken relationship and who was fired from the band in 2018 – for one final tour.

“Even if I thought I could work with Lindsey again, he had health problems,” said the “Silver Springs” singer, referring to his open-heart surgery in 2019. “It’s not my place to say, but I’m not sure Lindsey could do the kind of tour that Fleetwood Mac does, where you’re on the road for a year and a half. It’s so demanding.”
