McDonald’s offers  menu deal as consumers value good value for money

MC Donalds is preparing to introduce a $5 menu offer and other value-based offerings.

The $5 meal deal will launch on June 25 and will be available for a limited time at participating McDonald’s restaurants, the company said Thursday (June 20). Press release.

The $5 menu includes a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries and four Chicken McNuggets And small Soft drink, says the press release.

Additionally, every Friday through the end of 2024, the McDonald’s app will offer free medium sized French fries with any minimum purchase of $1 on “Free Fries Friday.” On National French Fry Day (July 13), the app will offer free French fries of any size with no purchase necessary. “McDonald’s is all about affordable prices and creating memorable moments,” said John Palmaccio, chairman of the McDonald’s Owner/Operator and Operator’s National Advertising Fund, in the press release. “As small business owners, it’s our responsibility to provide great value to our local communities when they need it most.”

In May, it was reported that McDonald’s encouraged franchisees to vote for the introduction of a $5 menu offer to win back customers who had migrated because of high prices.

Franchisees had already rejected the proposal in early 2024, with some fearing they would lose money from the promotion, especially in states like California, which recently raised its minimum wage for fast-food workers.

Retailers have also announced Price reductions and other strategies to attract the attention of bargain hunters.

During a conference call on quarterly results, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski Analysts said: “Consumers are becoming more selective with every dollar they spend as they increased prices in their daily expenses.”
