The ASCAP Foundation launches the “In Her Voice” scholarship

The ASCAP Foundation is awarding its first scholarship to support artists who identify as female and want to make their voices heard through songwriting.

The ASCAP Foundation’s “In Her Voice” scholarship benefits two undergraduate or graduate students who identify as female and are ASCAP members or not affiliated with any other performing arts organization. Applicants must submit a song that addresses socially conscious themes of women’s empowerment to be considered for the scholarship.

The In Her Voice Scholarship is funded in part by a generous donation from She Is The Music.

“We hope this scholarship will advance the careers of promising female songwriters while promoting equality and inclusion in higher education and the music industry,” said ASCAP Foundation Executive Director Nicole George-Middleton. “We are thrilled to partner with She Is The Music and provide this opportunity to aspiring musicians.”

The application period for the ASCAP Foundation In Her Voice Fellowship begins July 8, 2024 and closes July 31, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Applicants will be judged by industry experts on originality, overall quality and craftsmanship of the song, and their ability to portray socially conscious themes of women empowerment.
