Chris Rock tells his life story again in “Everybody Hates Chris,” an animated remake of Rock’s original hit sitcom “Everybody Hates Chris,” which focuses on his childhood.

Comedy Central announced the voice cast for the new series in a press release on Tuesday.

In addition to Rock, who narrates the series as “Adult Chris” and is an executive producer of the show, the cast also includes big names such as “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold from “The Neighborhood.” Both Crews and Arnold played the roles of father Julius and mother Rochelle in the original series.

“I’m very excited to share another fun side of my childhood with the world,” Rock said in a statement.

Outstanding

Chris Rock and Terry Crews will appear in Everybody Still Hates Chris.

The show’s episodes will tell stories “inspired by (Rock’s) experiences growing up as a skinny nerd in a large working-class family in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn in the late 1980s,” Comedy Central’s press release said.

Crews will reprise the role of Julius, Chris’ father, who has an intense work ethic and smart spending habits. Arnold will reprise his role as Rochelle, Chris’ mother, whose “zero-nonsense” attitude goes hand in hand with her “caring spirit” as a mother, the press release states.

Young Chris, played by Tim Johnson Jr. from “Bella and the Bulldogs,” is confronted with humorous family conflicts: “He’s a nerd who wants to be cool, but is overshadowed by his younger brother, tormented by his little sister, and thwarted by his stingy father.”

The siblings are played by Ozioma Akagha (Tonya, Chris’ little sister) and Terrence Little Gardenhigh (Drew, Chris’ brother). Gunnar Sizemore plays Chris’ friend Greg.

“I wanted this job to get free tickets to a Chris Rock stand-up show, but in the end we made something we are proud of and that stays true to the original series that we all loved,” executive producer Sanjay Shah said in a statement accompanying the press release.

The original series, which was inspired by Rock’s upbringing, ran for four seasons from 2005 to 2009.
