Master carpenter dies suddenly in York, says family

Matthew “Matt” Aaron Clinton, 54, of York, died on July 2, according to his obituary“The details of his death are unknown, but we currently know that he died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Columbia,” his ex-wife Jane Calcina-Clinton wrote on a GoFundMe to help her two sons.

Matt attended West York High School and York VoTech and became a master carpenter, according to his obituary. “His brilliance and artistry really came through in his work, where he brought creativity and magic to each of his projects, such as Escape Games Live in York,” his obituary reads. Daily Voice has reached out to Escape Games Live in York for further comments on his sudden death.

According to his obituary, Matt was known for his kindness, genuine generosity and sense of humor.

After overcoming his addiction, Matt became a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. As his obituary states, “he loved to analyze, reflect, and debate with others and was very devoted to his mentor and minister, Pastor John Baker of Kinderhook Evangelical Church in Columbia.”

He was extremely proud of his sons, who survived him, as well as his mother, brothers, nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and his ex-wife and former in-laws, as described in his obituary.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 5 p.m. at the Perch Pavilion in William H. Kain Park, 274 Hess Farm Rd, York, as directed in his obituary.
