Report: Apple Watch Series 10 to have larger screen

The next generation of Apple Watch, the Series 10, will likely feature a larger screen for the tech company’s non-Ultra models and a silicon upgrade inside, according to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, which suggests Apple is looking to celebrate the Apple Watch’s tenth anniversary with a new round of improvements.

The Apple Watch originally launched in April 2015 after being announced in 2014. Since then, it has become a ubiquitous wearable, accounting for about 31% of the smartwatch market. We’ve been following all the rumors and reports about what to expect from the next Apple Watch, including a report last month that also predicted the device will have a larger screen.

It’s unclear, however, Gurman writes, whether some of the changes Apple plans to make for its next series will appear in the usual launch cycle later this year or whether upgraders will have to wait until 2025. There could be an Apple Watch with a larger display and overall thinner device in the fall, but health features like blood pressure and sleep apnea detection could take longer, Gurman says. “Since Apple made progress on these features last year, it’s run into some serious issues, from what I hear.”

And while Apple will likely have new chips in its standard and Ultra models of the Apple Watch soon, Gurman says we shouldn’t expect Apple Intelligence features on the Apple Watch just yet. At last month’s WWDC event, the Apple Watch wasn’t among the devices scheduled to receive Apple Intelligence this year, but the new chip could prepare future versions of the wearable for AI integration.

Gurman says there could also be a new version of the cheaper Apple SE device.

In addition, he reiterated that many of the Apple Intelligence upgrades Apple announced for Siri are unlikely to be ready in time for the launch of iOS 18 this fall.

Meanwhile, Samsung is hosting an Unpacked event this week that could reveal new developments from the Galaxy maker in the areas of AI, foldable phones, smartwatches and the Galaxy Ring health wearable.
