“With love to the children in Kiev for Sevastopol” – Russians celebrate strike at children’s hospital

“With love to the children in Kiev for Sevastopol” – Russians celebrate strike at children’s hospital

On Monday morning, July 8, Russia fired more than 40 missiles of various types at Ukrainian cities, killing at least 20 people and hitting a children’s hospital in Kyiv. Children were buried under the rubble, prompting worried Kyiv residents to rush to help.

While Ukrainian civilians were busy rescuing trapped children, parents, doctors and other medical personnel, Russians shared their joy online that dozens of children and their parents had been injured and some even killed.

And while this attack would likely be considered a war crime by the International Criminal Court (ICC) because civilian targets, especially hospitals, are illegal targets, some Russians on social media called for a second illegal act: a so-called double-tap attack to kill the civilian volunteers and government employees involved in the rescue effort.

“Evacuated mothers with sick children from the Okhmatdyt hospital, in the courtyard of which a crashed rocket hit. Am I the only one who thinks the Kinzhal rocket will hit again?” wrote one user in a local Telegram chat.

The Russians claimed that it was an impossible feat: they had not hit the children, but only the soldiers who were housed in the children’s hospital.

Kyiv Post special correspondent Sergii Kostezh captured exclusive footage of the Kyiv Children’s Hospital, which was the target of a Russian missile attack on Monday, July 8.

“I remind you all stupid freaks: we do not beat children and hospitals! Unlike the bloodthirsty herds of wild jackals who, in order to disrupt Orbán’s trip, endangered the lives and health of their own children, who are just as expendable to them as all the others they use on the front lines and in the rear,” the Russian wrote.

Others also commented on the attack in Russian chat channels:

“Why are the Hohols (a highly derogatory term for Ukrainians in Russia) bombing themselves? Are they idiots?”

“This is for Belgorod”

“Well, I wonder how many Hohols died there?”

“Oh, the cattle are crying, it was the same in Belgorod.”

“Yes, the air defenses hit the house.”

“With love to the children of Kiev in Sevastopol.”

“They have so many burnt asses in their chats.”

“The bitches make such pathetic faces, but the way they jumped to Sevastopol. It’s not enough, every damn day we have to beat the wankers.”
