Packers Reacts Poll: How will Jordan Love’s contract compare?

Until training camp begins, all eyes are on one thing: Jordan Love’s impending contract extension. General manager Brian Gutekunst stated he would like to get a deal done with Love before training camp begins, but the team has said multiple times this offseason that it wants to “do everything right” regarding Love’s contract extension.

All of this was said before Trevor Lawrence, who was never selected to the Pro Bowl as a non-alternate, signed a $55 million-per-year contract that puts him on par with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and is the most expensive deal in the history of the sport.

The contract extensions of Lawrence and Jared Goff change a lot of things about Love’s contract. I think a lot of Packers fans were hoping before the offseason that the team would keep Love’s contract around $50 million per year. However, with Goff signed for $53 million per year and Lawrence signed for $55 million per year, that $50 million number is probably out of reach.

So the only question now is whether or not Love will rebalance the quarterback market. Just a year ago, when he had just one start under his belt, that seemed like a ridiculous question. However, the ever-increasing cost of quarterbacks and Love’s hot second half of the 2023 season have now brought that question into play.

Where do you think Love will rank compared to the Lawrence deal, which pays the quarterback $275 million over five years? Will he make more or less than Lawrence, assuming the years are similar?
