Did Incubus ever consider giving “Wish You Were Here” a different title? – 98KUPD – Arizona’s Real Rock

About 25 years ago Incubus released their song “Wish You Were Here” in 2001, a small band called Pink Floyd also released a track with that title. Since one of the most popular songs by a popular classic rock band was already called “Wish You Were Here”, did Incubus ever consider calling their song something else?

“It didn’t escape our notice that there was another song (called ‘Wish You Were Here’),” says drummer Jose Pasillas says ABC Audio. “But … (frontman) Brandon (BoydHe’s really good at just following his gut feeling and intuition when it comes to lyrics and titles.”

He continues: “So we thought: if that’s what you want, and it is, why not?”

Also, Pink Floyd and Incubus aren’t the only bands to ever record a song called “Wish You Were Here.” Avril LavigneFor example, she released her own album “Wish You Were Here” in 2011.

“There are probably many songs with the same title,” says Pasillas.

Even though they had some pretty big shoes to fill with the song title “Wish You Were Here”, Incubus’ song clearly stood out from Pink Floyd and has become one of their most famous hits. Incubus not only play the song at almost every show, but also on Morning View XXIIIa re-recorded version of their 2001 album, Morning view.

While a number of songs on Morning View XXIII Although the song takes some dramatic left turns, the new recording of “Wish You Were Here” remains largely faithful to the original.

“‘Wish You Were Here’ was pretty much a finished product after we recorded it,” says Pasillas. “So there are just tiny hints of subtle changes.”
