The TV series “Arkham Asylum” has been canceled

The Batman The series focused on Arkham Asylum was reportedly canceled by HBO.

Originally intended as a sequel to Matt Reeves’ The Batman The series originally focused on Gotham City’s corrupt police force before it was revamped.

In 2022, Antonio Campos was brought on as showrunner, while Reeves told fans that the series had evolved and was now focused on the world of Arkham Asylum, the place that houses Batman’s rogues gallery after they were defeated by the caped crusader.

Reeves described it as a sequel to 2022 The Batman and hinted that it could provide origin stories for many of Gotham City’s villains. “It’s almost similar to the idea of the horror movie or haunted house Arkham,” he added.

After it was announced that James Gunn and Peter Safran would be taking over the DC Universe and rebooting much of it, Gunn confirmed that the series was still in development. However, he said that the series would now be set in the main DC Universe rather than the separate DC Elseworlds universe where Robert Pattinson’s Batman lives.

However, a new report from Variety says that HBO and Max will not continue with the Arkham Asylum series. However, another version of the idea could be developed later, a person familiar with the situation said.

A spin-off of The Batman The series about Colin Farrell’s Penguin is scheduled to air on Max in September, while The Batman – Part 2 is now set to premiere in 2026 after being pushed back from 2025. HBO recently gave the green light to a Green Lantern television show.

It was not a good time for Arkham Asylum fans. After the development of the popular Arkham Asylum Series of video games, Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was received with negative reviews and Warner Bros. admitted that the title had not met their expectations.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that the next Batman: Arkham The game was supposed to be released exclusively for VR, while the founders of Rocksteady Studios founded a new development studio called Hundred Star Games.
